Jacques Bienvenue
Jacques Bienvenue (born May 2, 1938 in Québec ) is a retired Canadian automobile racing driver .
Career
Jacques Bienvenue was best known in North America as a sports car racing driver. The Canadian achieved his first successes in 1971 when he finished fifth in the overall standings in a Porsche 911 at the 200-mile race in Daytona. In 1969 he contested the 6-hour race at Watkins Glen . In 1973 he made his debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Daytona . In 1973 these endurance races were also part of the sports car world championship . In 1975 he finished fourth in Daytona and achieved second place overall at the Sebring race, his first podium finish in a major international sports car race.
In 1975 he also came to Europe and contested the 24-hour race at Le Mans . As a partner of Claude Ballot-Léna , he finished eighth overall. At the end of the 1970s, he switched to the American Trans-Am series , where he drove until 1985.
