Billy Sprowls

Guillermo "Billy" Sprowls (* in Mexico City ) is a former Mexican racing driver .

Racing career

Billy Sprowls began his career in the late 1950s and became one of the most famous and successful touring car drivers in his home country. Belonging to the generation of the two Rodríguez brothers Ricardo and Pedro , he was first a mechanic and co-driver for Paco Díaz and later became a works driver at Chrysler Mexico . He won several Mexican touring car championships on a Dodge Dart .

In the 1970s, Sprowls was also active in international long-distance sports . He contested the 12-hour race at Sebring and the 24-hour race at Le Mans . He celebrated his greatest success at the Daytona 24-hour race in 1975 when he finished second overall with Michael Keyser and Andrés Contreras in a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR behind Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood .
