John Hotchkis
John Hotchkis (born September 3, 1931 ) is a former American racing car driver and the father of Mark and John Hotchkis junior .
Career
John Hotchkis began motorsport in the early 1970s. In 1971 he took part in the Sebring 12-hour race for the first time , where he had started a total of 13 times up to 1991 . The first participation in 1971 he finished with partner Robert Kirby in 20th place overall. He had a long friendship with Kirby. For many years they ran their own racing team that coordinated the respective racing activities.
In contrast to Kirby, who competed in many national sports car races, Hotchkis was mainly registered at international events. Despite many good results, it was never enough for an overall victory. Great success was the second place in the IMSA GTP series in 1987 counting 500 km race of Watkins Glen .
The best result at Sebring was fourth place in 1990 . He competed five times at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , with the best finish in 1979 when he finished ninth.
