Beaumont-sur-Sarthe is a municipality with 1,960 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in France . It is located in the department of Sarthe and the region Pays de la Loire . Beaumont-sur-Sarthe belongs to the Arrondissement of Mamers and the canton of Sillé-le-Guillaume (until 2015: canton of Beaumont-sur-Sarthe ). The inhabitants are called Belmontais .
geography
Beaumont-sur-Sarthe is about 24 kilometers north-north-west of Le Mans on the Sarthe . Beaumont-sur-Sarthe is surrounded by the neighboring communities Juillé in the north, Vivoin in the east, Maresché in the south and southeast, Assé-le-Riboul in the south and west and Saint-Christophe-du-Jambet in the west and northwest.
The former route nationale 138 (today's D338) runs through the municipality .
Until 1793 the place was called "Beaumont-le-Vicomte".
