Saosnes is a French municipality with 211 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Sarthe department in the region of Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Mamers and the Canton of Mamers .

Saosnes, which was written as Sonnes until 1801 and then also Saone, is eponymous for the Saosnois landscape. In 1810 the neighboring municipality of Mont-Renault (Montrenault, 183 inhabitants) was integrated.

Today's neighboring municipalities of Saosnes are: Vezot , Panon and Saint-Longis in the north, Pizieux and Saint-Calez-en-Saosnois in the east, Courgains in the south and Les Mées and Saint-Rémy-du-Val in the west.
