Cherré-Au is a French commune with 2,698 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Sarthe in the region Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the arrondissement of Mamers and the canton of La Ferté-Bernard .

It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 by merging the previous municipalities of Cherré and Cherreau , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are located in Cherré.

geography

The community is located around 40 kilometers northeast of Le Mans . It connects to the east of the city of La Ferté-Bernard , with the settlement areas merging in places. The municipality is crossed by the Gradon River , a tributary of the Huisne . The A 11 motorway runs along the southern border . Neighboring municipalities are: Avezé in the north, Ceton in the northeast, Cormes in the east and southeast, Saint-Maixent in the south, Villaines-la-Gonais and Saint-Martin-des-Monts in the southwest, La Ferté-Bernard in the west and Souvigné-sur- Même in the northwest.
