It belongs to the arrondissement of Mamers and the canton of Loué (until 2015: canton of Conlie ). The inhabitants are called Ruilléens or Ruillacois .

Ruillé-en-Champagne is located about 22 kilometers west-northwest of Le Mans on the Vègre . Ruillé-en-Champagne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Symphorien in the north and north-west, Bernay-Neuvy-en-Champagne in the east and north-east, Amné in the east and south-east, Épineu-le-Chevreuil in the south and Chemiré-en-Charnie in the West.
