It has 949 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017), called Ancinnois , and is located in the department of Sarthe in the region Pays de la Loire ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Mamers and the canton of Sillé-le-Guillaume . Ancinnes maintains a long-term exchange with the Lower Saxony community Schwarme .

Ancinnes is located in the Normandie-Maine Regional Nature Park (French: Parc naturel régional Normandie-Maine ). The nearest major city is Alençon , eight kilometers away , the capital of the Orne department . To the north and west of Ancinnes runs the Sarthe River , after which the Sarthe department in which Ancinnes is located is named. To the north-east of Ancinnes is the Foret Domaniale de Perseigne forest area, which covers an area of ​​more than 5000 hectares .
