Villaines-la-Gonais is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Martin-des-Monts in the north, Cherré-Au with Cherré in the east and northeast, Saint-Maixent in the south and southeast, Sceaux-sur-Huisne in the south and southwest and Boëssé- le-Sec in the west.
