Andy Petery
Andras "Andy" Petery (born December 22, 1939 in Greenwich ) is a former American racing driver .
Racing career
Andy Petery was active and successful as a sports car driver for four decades . He had his first appearances in 1972 in the Trans-Am series and the Camel GT Championship of the IMSA . In 1973 he drove his first Daytona 24-hour race , which he and his partner Hans Ziereis finished in a BMW 2002 in 18th place overall. The duo won the racing class of touring cars up to 2 liters.
In the 1980s he became a regular starter in the sports car world championship and in the IMSA GTP series . In 1985 he made his debut with a ninth place overall at the 12 Hours of Sebring and in 1986 with a 15th place finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans .
His best placings in sports car races were fourth overall, including with Brett Lunger in the BMW 3.0 CSL in the 1974 6-hour race at Road Atlanta .
