Dennis Aase
Dennis Aase (born February 23, 1944 ) is a former American automobile racing driver and racing team owner.
Career
Dennis Aase began his racing career in the early 1970s. His first races were in the US SCCA sports car championship and in the Can-Am series , which he finished in 1974 as eighth of the championship. In the 1980s, Aase was a regular starter in the IMSA GT and IMSA GTP series , where he won several championship races. In 1983 he became a works driver at Toyota and drove the Toyota Celica used by Dan Gurney's All-American Racers Team in series. His best place in the 12-hour race at Sebring was fifth overall in 1981 , which equated to victory in the GTO class. Aase also took part in the Le Mans 24-hour race once . In 1977 he reached 20th place overall.
In 1994 he and his brother Dave founded a racing team that had been involved in US sports car races for many years with Porsche and Toyota vehicles . Among other things, the team also prepared the safety cars for the CART series races in the 1990s.
As a driver, he celebrated eight overall and twelve class wins in his career, which lasted until 2000.
