Valentin Tschernikow ( Armenian Վալենտին Չեռնիկով ; born April 1, 1937 in Yerevan , Armenian SSR ; † January 5, 2002 in Nizhny Novgorod , Russia ) was an Armenian sword fencer who competed for the Soviet Union.
successes
Valentin Chernikov's greatest success was winning the 1961 World Cup in Turin with the team. With her he also finished second in Budapest in 1959 and third in Buenos Aires in 1962 . Chernikov twice took part in the Olympic Games : in 1956 in Melbourne , he finished fifth in the team competition. At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome , he won the bronze medal with the team after a final 9: 5 win over Hungary .
