Christian Poirot
Christian Poirot (born January 14, 1930 in Saint-Étienne-lès-Remiremont , † September 6, 1979 in Denpasar ) was a French racing driver and racing team owner.
Career
Christian Poirot began motorsport in the early 1950s and was a driver until 1977. After a few touring car races in France, his first international appearance was at the 1955 Mille Miglia , where he retired due to a technical defect in a Panhard Dyna . A year later he was 171st in the overall standings in this classic Italian road race and a few weeks later in the 12-hour race in Reims , eleventh in the small VP of his compatriot Just-Émile Vernet .
However, Poirot became internationally known in the 1960s, above all through the successes he achieved with vehicles of the Porsche brand . In 1964 , he and Claude Marbaque finished fifth in a Porsche 904 GTS in the Tour de France for automobiles and eighth overall in the Le Mans 24-hour race .
Poirot had his last start at Le Mans in 1976 when he finished 23rd in the overall standings in a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR owned by the Alméras brothers.
