Staria lunate , also known as Small sickle Stain Shield Bug known is a Wanzenart from the family of stink bugs (Pentatomidae).
features
The 7 to 8 millimeter long bugs are brownish in color. They have three light-colored calluses at the base of the scutellum. The lower end of the label is strongly rounded and hemmed in a sickle shape.
distribution
The species occurs in the western Palearctic . It is widespread in the Mediterranean. In contrast, Staria lunata is rare in Central Europe. In Germany it occurs mainly in the river valleys of the Rhine, Moselle and Danube. In Bavaria the species is on the red list.
Way of life
Staria lunata is a polyphagous species of bug. They are often found on herbaceous plants . These include rennet herbs ( Galium ), thyme , brown wort ( Scrophularia ), rockrose ( Cistus ) and mullein ( Verbascum ).
