Pierre Noblet

Pierre Noblet (* 1921 or 1922; † May 6, 2014 ) was a Belgian racing driver .

Career

Pierre Noblet worked as an industrialist in the steel industry. He began motorsport in the 1950s. He initially competed in touring car and hill climbs in Belgium, before becoming one of the most successful amateur sports car racing drivers in Europe in the late 1950s. Noblet was wealthy and could afford to run a small private racing stable that organized its own operations. Together with the Frenchman Jean Guichet , who was a close friend of his, he drove Ferrari racing cars in all important sports car races until the mid-1960s.

In 1962 he finished second with Guichet in the Le Mans 24-hour race and won the GT class. A year earlier, he and Guichet had finished on the top three podium when the two of them finished third in the overall standings with a Ferrari 250GT Berlinetta SWB.

He was also able to celebrate successes outside of Le Mans. In 1963 - again as a partner of Guichet - he came second in the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring .
