Fiat 1500 B (1935-1948)

There were three cars with the designation Fiat 1500 . The first model was built from 1935 to 1950. The second model appeared in 1961 and was called Fiat 1300 or Fiat 1500 , depending on the engine size . In parallel to this, there was a larger model called Fiat 1500 L from 1963 . This was a Fiat 1800 with the smaller model four cylinder engine.

Fiat 1500 (1935-1950)

A Fiat 1500 was manufactured before the Second World War , namely as a Fiat 1500/1500 B / 1500 C from 1935 to 1948. The mid-range vehicle with a central box frame was available as a two- and four-door sedan and as a two-door convertible. The vehicles had a 6-cylinder in-line engine with 1493 cm³ displacement and an output of 33 kW. The power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a 4-speed gearbox with a gearshift lever in the middle of the car. The top speed was 114 km / h.

In 1948 the 1500 D model appeared with an output increased to 34.5 kW. The top speed increased slightly to 115 km / h. The following model, 1500 E (with steering wheel gearshift, top speed 120 km / h) was discontinued as early as 1950. The successor was the Fiat 1400 .

Fiat 1500 (1961-1967)

In late autumn 1961, the four-door sedans (and a five-door station wagon called Familiare ) Fiat 1300 and 1500 , which were built until the end of 1966 and the end of 1968, appeared as the successor to the Fiat 1200 Granluce with a new body .

As representatives of the so-called "Corvair line", both corresponded to contemporary tastes with the surrounding, strongly emphasized side line (bathtub shape) (cf. NSU Prinz 4 , 1000 , Chevrolet Corvair ). The engine of the model 1500 was an in-line engine with 1481 cm³ displacement and an output of 49 kW initially. The 4-speed gearbox was switched from the steering wheel according to the mode of the time. Its top speed was 150 km / h.

The first revision took place in the summer of 1964, the 1500 mutated into the 1500 C, which by lengthening the body by 10 cm and thus the wheelbase and the rear doors provided more legroom at the rear. The 1.5-liter engine now developed 75 hp and drove at speeds of up to 155 km / h. There was also a modified radiator grille and larger rear lights. However, the 1500 remained externally as a Familiare and the 1300 as a sedan and Familiare visually and technically unchanged. The 1300 always had 60 hp and drove 140 km / h. In Germany, the 1500 was the model that was sold much more frequently.

The two-door 1500 Cabriolet and the 1500 Coupé (both designed identically by Pininfarina), which were manufactured from the autumn of 1963 to the end of 1967, were also equally motorized, and from 1965 onwards they were equipped with a 5-speed gearbox (both middle shift) instead of a 4-speed gearbox was. Their top speed was 67 hp at 160 km / h, with 75 hp (from late 64) 165 km / h.

Fiat 1500 L (1963-1968)

In early 1959 , two completely new 6-cylinder Fiat models appeared as successors to the Fiat 1900 : Fiat 1800 and Fiat 2100 with a self-supporting body in the then modern trapezoidal shape as a four-door sedan. A revision of the 2100 led to the Fiat 2300 in 1961 .

Based on this model, there was a model called 1500 L , originally only planned as a taxi version, from 1963 , which had the body of the Fiat 1800 with the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (1481 cm³, 67 hp, from the end of 1964 75 hp ) of the smaller 1500 models. In 1968 the production was stopped.

In Spain this car was built as SEAT 1500 until 1970.
