The Fiat Tempra is a lower middle class vehicle model built from spring 1990 to summer 1996. It is the successor to the Fiat Regata and the predecessor of the Fiat Marea series.
Two body styles were offered: a classic notchback sedan and the station wagon presented in March 1991 , which was sold in Germany as the Tempra Station Wagon (also as a 4WD, i.e. with all-wheel drive). In some countries, the combination version was sold as Marengo for commercial customers .
history
The car shared the platform and many components with the Fiat Tipo presented in spring 1988 .
Basically, the Fiat Tempra is the notchback or station wagon version of the Fiat Tipo, with a few visual changes to the front. At that time it already had a 70 percent galvanized body and individual hoods made of plastic, which was considered modern. The Tipo also gave it its rather flexible body in the crash test.
Facelift
At the beginning of 1993 the Tempra received a slight facelift with a modified radiator grille, stiffened body structure including side impact protection and airbags. These were able to significantly improve the safety reserves. There were some special models, including the "Eleganza" range.
In Turkey , the Tempra is still produced by the Tofaş company . In Brazil, the Tempra was also built as a two-door model from 1992 to 2000, with a 2.0-liter 16V engine (127 hp) and a two-liter turbo (165 hp).
In the movie The American , the protagonist's (aka George Clooney ) Tempra gets some attention.
