The Fiat Sedici is a compact SUV built by Fiat in cooperation with Suzuki , which was produced by Magyar Suzuki in Esztergom , Hungary . The plan was for a production volume of 60,000 pieces per year, of which 20,000 should be for the Fiat model and 40,000 for the Suzuki SX4 . The design was developed by Fiat Centro Stile in collaboration with Giorgetto Giugiaro . The name Sedici, sixteen in German, is derived from the four-wheel drive meaning four times four (4 × 4) .

Like its sister model from Suzuki, the Sedici was available with front-wheel drive and with selectable all-wheel drive, whereby a switch was used to choose between the drive types 2WD (the power is distributed to the front wheels), auto (the system automatically selects the power distribution) and Lock (permanent all-wheel drive) can be.

The standard equipment included ABS , EBD brake force distribution, four airbags , manual air conditioning, electric power steering, a CD radio, electric front windows, roof rails and fog lights. ESP was only available at an additional cost.

Before it was launched, the Fiat Sedici was used as a shuttle vehicle at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. In March 2006 Fiat received 7,000 pre-orders for the Sedici within the first ten days and sold two thirds of the 10,000 units planned by the end of 2006.

Facelift

2009

In summer 2009 there was a facelift to the Sedici. The front section was revised, which received a modified bumper, a new radiator grille and new fog lights. The 1.6-liter gasoline engine was still the base engine. From then on, however, it had an output of 88 kW (120 PS), which meant an increase in output of 9 kW or 13 PS. The previous 1.9-liter diesel was replaced by a 2.0-liter diesel with 99 kW (135 hp).

2012

At the beginning of 2012 there was another facelift, which included redesigned exterior mirrors with integrated indicators and expanded standard equipment. From then on, ESP was standard.

The diesel engines came from Fiat, the petrol from Suzuki.

Production of the Sedici ended in autumn 2014. The successor model Fiat 500X was introduced in autumn 2014.
