The Fiat 16-20 or 16-24 HP is an upper middle class passenger car that Fiat produced from 1903 to 1906 as the successor to the Fiat 12 HP in 691 copies at the Corso Dante plant in Turin . The upper- class Fiat 24-32 HP and Fiat's first truck, the Fiat 24 HP, were derived from the 16-24 HP .
The body styles offered were Phaeton , Landaulet Cabriolet (from 1904) or Duc . Four series were created. The first series, started in 1903, had a four-cylinder gasoline engine with a displacement of 4179 cc, producing 20 hp (14.7 kW), and an unsynchronized four-speed gearbox. The drive force was transmitted to the rear wheels via chains.
After 100 units had been built, the Series 2 started in 1904 with a wheelbase extended to 2585 mm and an increased output of 24 hp (17.7 kW). 130 copies were built until the Series 3 came out in 1905 with a wheelbase extended to 2853 mm. 171 vehicles of this series were built. The fourth and final series, which started in 1906, received an engine enlarged to 4503 cm³ with the same output but lower consumption. The production number rose to 290 units until Fiat discontinued the model in late 1906 in favor of a Brevetti Fiat model .
