The Fiat 600 Savio Jungla is a Fiat car model produced by the Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Savio .
description
Savio manufactured the model between 1965 and 1974. The Jungla is an open multi-purpose car with a minimalist, angular body based on the Fiat 600D , which (apart from the rear-wheel drive of the Jungla) conceptually followed the Mini Moke or the Citroën Baby Brousse . The vehicle was developed by Fiat but built by Savio.
The construction of the Jungla is often described as spartan. The car had an open sheet steel body with a fold-down windshield. A fabric roof and fabric doors with plastic side windows were optionally available. Drive, mechanics and accessories came from the Fiat 600D; After the end of production, the identical components of the Seat 600 and later those of the Yugoslavian Zastava 750 were used. Seat belts were not provided; a windshield wiper was only installed on the driver's side.
The Savio Jungla was primarily designed for work use and not as a fun car. Numerous vehicles were used, for example, by the Italian police and the forest administration.
Savio introduced the Jungla at the Turin Motor Show in 1965. By 1974 Savio had produced around 3200 pieces.
