The Fiat Scudo is a commercial vehicle from the Italian car manufacturer Fiat . Like the identically constructed Peugeot Expert and Citroën Jumpy models, it is a very light commercial vehicle based on the Eurovans that have been produced by Sevel Nord since February 1996 . The Scudo is the successor of the Fiat Talento, a version with a short wheelbase and a long overhang of the Fiat Ducato. The Talento was originally intended as a successor to the Fiat 900 , which was designed according to the concept on short and small areas with a lot of cargo space. However, among other things, the emerging Japanese competition had given the 900 no more lucrative market share due to its outdated technology, as well as the additionally emerging cars with box bodies. With the Scudo, Fiat was able to close this gap below the Fiat Ducato in the model range.

The first generation was revised in 2000 and 2004, and the second generation followed in January 2007. In 2008 the Scudo II was voted Van of the Year together with its sister models.

In 2010/2011, Fiat terminated the Eurovan's cooperation in the passenger car sector, while the commercial vehicles continued to be produced jointly until 2016. In 2015 there was a cooperation with Renault . The Fiat Talento , which replaced the Scudo in 2016, is therefore now based on the Renault Trafic .

Box van

The second generation was available as a panel van in two heights and two lengths. While the shorter version was around 4.81 meters and had a wheelbase of 3 meters, the longer version was 5.14 meters long and had a wheelbase of 3.12 meters. The height varied between 1.88 and 2.29 meters. All models were around 1.90 meters wide. The cargo space was between 5000 and 7000 liters. The curb weight was given as 1736–1834 kg. Four four-cylinder engines were available for the van, including a petrol (2.0 16V) and three diesel engines (HDi 90, HDi 120 (FAP), HDi 165 FAP). All models were driven via the front wheels and had a 5-speed manual transmission (2.0 16V, HDi 90) or a 6-speed manual transmission (HDi 120 (FAP), HDi 165 FAP).

Station wagon

Rear view

The station wagon was offered in the same lengths (4.81 m; 5.15 m); the wheelbases are also accordingly. The van version is flatter with a height between 1.88 and 1.98 m. The engine range of the large-capacity van only included the two more powerful diesel versions that were also offered in the panel van. These are 2.0 liter four-cylinder diesel engines based on common rail direct injection with 120 and 163 hp and diesel particulate filters (FAP). The weaker version met the Euro 4 standard, the stronger already the Euro 5 standard. Power was also transmitted via the front wheels and a 6-speed manual transmission.
