Fiat 508 CM

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fiat 508 CM or 508 C Balilla "Torpedo Militare" was an Italian military vehicle.

Like its predecessor, which was built from 1932 to 1937, it was based on the mid-range civilian model 508 Balilla. The Ispettorato della Motorizzazione (Inspectorate for Motorization) requested a light vehicle, especially for use in the Italian colonies . The Fiat 508 CM was created according to the requirements. The vehicle was given a higher ground clearance than the civil version and a special military-grade body . As required, the vehicle was inexpensive, could reach a high speed on the road (95 km / h) and was reasonably off-road. The Fiat 508 CM had the four-cylinder Fiat 108C petrol engine with 30 hp (22 kW). The vehicle was built from 1937 to 1943.
