The Fiat Idea is a five-door minivan from the Italian car manufacturer Fiat that has been in production since mid-2003.
history
The Idea is based on the second generation of the Fiat Punto introduced in autumn 1999 and was offered in Italy from summer 2003. A year later it was also available in other European countries, from mid-2004 to the end of 2008 in Germany as well. Since 2005, the vehicle has also been manufactured in the Brazilian Fiat plant in Betim for the South American market. There the model received a facelift in 2010 . In many other markets, however, the Idea was discontinued in favor of the better equipped Lancia Musa .
The Idea is offered with the following engines:
- 1.2 liter 16V petrol : 59 kW / 80 PS, top speed: 163 km / h
- 1.4 liter 8V petrol : 57 kW / 77 PS, top speed: 163 km / h

The Fiat Idea is equipped with a 5- or 6-speed gearbox and can also be ordered with the "Dualogic" automatic, a sequential, automated 6-speed manual gearbox.
On the same platform ( 350 ), the Lancia Musa was offered by the subsidiary Lancia , with minor differences, especially with regard to the more elegant body design and the higher-quality interior materials . Production of the Idea in Europe was discontinued at the end of 2012.
Idea Adventure
The "Idea Adventure" is a variant of the basic model in the look of an off-road vehicle with plastic paneling on the body. The "Adventure" is only equipped with front-wheel drive so that it is hardly capable of off-roading. In Brazil, the vehicle is offered with a 1.8-liter gasoline engine and 82 kW (112 hp), but not in Europe. However, a prototype with a diesel engine was spotted in Italy in 2007.
