The Fiat 241 was developed on the basis of the Fiat 238 and differed from it mainly in its rear-wheel drive , and it also had a three-spoke steering wheel. The model was designed for higher payloads than the 238.

There were the versions of the flatbed truck (with side folding side walls) and box truck available. The engine of the 241 was in the center of the driver's cab and not under the passenger bench as in the 238. So he was only a two-seater. While the 238 was still in production until the 1980s, the Fiat 242 replaced the 241 in 1974 .
