The Sauber C35 is the Formula 1 - racing car of Sauber Motorsport for the Formula 1 World Championship 2016 . It is the 24th Sauber Formula 1 car. It was presented on the team's website on February 29, 2016 as the last vehicle for the 2016 season.
As with all Sauber vehicles, the name of the car consists of the C for Christiane, Peter Sauber's wife , and a consecutive number.
Technology and development
The C35 is the successor to the C34 and has been further developed from the previous model.
The C35 is powered by the Ferrari 059/5 , a 1.6-liter V6 engine from Ferrari with a turbocharger . The gearbox is also from Ferrari.
After Sauber ran into financial difficulties, there were hardly any technical developments to the vehicle during the season, instead many components were used for a very long time. For example, in the eighth race of the season, the European Grand Prix , Nasr still drove the engine that had already been used in the opening race in Australia. The engine had far exceeded its normal running time and could only be driven with reduced power. This had a particular effect on the top speeds. After an investor was found for the Sauber team in July, some further developments that had been postponed for financial reasons were introduced. At the Grand Prix of Great Britain , a newly designed rear wing has been tested, the Belgian Grand Prix started Sauber then with an improved car, among other things, with a new front wing, a new subfloor and new brake ducts.
Painting and sponsorship
The C35 is mainly painted blue, the side boxes are yellow and white and have sponsor stickers from Banco do Brasil . In addition, the nose has a yellow trim and the side mirrors are painted yellow.
In addition, CNBC , Edox , Oerlikon , the Ospelt Group advertise with their Malbuner , Pirelli and Silanna brands on the vehicle.
driver
In the 2016 season, Sauber competed again with drivers Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr .
