The Sauber C33 was the Formula 1 - racing car of Sauber Motorsport for the Formula 1 2014 season . It was the 22nd Sauber Formula 1 car. The car was presented in Hinwil on January 26, 2014 .

As with all Sauber vehicles, the name of the car was composed of the C for Christiane, Peter Sauber's wife , followed by a consecutive number.

Technology and development

The C33 was the successor model to the C32 , although the vehicle was visually and technically significantly different from the previous model due to rule changes for the 2014 Formula 1 season .

Due to the rule changes for the 2014 season, the nose of the vehicle was significantly lower than that of the vehicle from the previous year. The front wing was suspended from two struts relatively far back. The nose tapered very strongly at the level of the front wing, similar to the Toro Rosso STR9 .

The C33 was powered by the newly developed Ferrari 059/3 , a 1.6-liter V6 engine with a turbocharger . Due to the regulations, there was only one central exhaust pipe that was above the rear light. Both the ERS and the eight-speed gearbox come from engine manufacturer Ferrari .

Painting and sponsorship

The C33 was painted dark gray. The sponsor Claro, a brand name in several Latin American countries for América Móvil's cellular networks, is providing red highlights . The logos of NEC , Telmex and œrlikon could also be found on the C33.

driver

Sauber started the 2014 season with the driver duo Esteban Gutiérrez and Adrian Sutil . Gutiérrez played his second season for Sauber, Sutil came from Force India and replaced Nico Hulkenberg , who in turn moved to Force India.
