The Force India VJM07 was the seventh Formula 1 - racing cars of the Indian team Force India . It was used in the 2014 Formula 1 season . It was presented to the public on January 22nd, 2014.
Technology and development
The VJM07 was the successor model of the VJM06 , although the vehicle differed significantly from the previous model, both visually and technically due to rule changes for the 2014 Formula 1 season .
The VJM07 was powered by the newly developed Mercedes-Benz PU106A Hybrid , a 1.6-liter V6 engine with a turbocharger . Both the ERS and the eight-speed transmission came from the engine manufacturer Mercedes .
Due to the rule changes for the 2014 season, the nose of the vehicle was significantly lower than that of the vehicle from the previous year. The front wing was suspended from two struts that were relatively far apart; in front of it, the nose was very tapered and clearly protruded over the wing.
Painting and sponsorship
The Force India VJM07 was painted in the colors of the Indian flag orange, white and green, but compared to the previous model, large parts of the white paint were now black. The title sponsor and shareholder Sahara India Pariwar was represented as a sponsor on the side pods. Other major sponsors of the team were Kingfisher Airlines and the United Breweries Group with its spirits brand Royal Challenge, companies that are close to the team boss Vijay Mallya . In addition, Claro, a brand name for América Móvil cellular networks in several Latin American countries , was represented on the vehicle.
driver
Force India entered 2014 with a new pair of drivers. Nico Hülkenberg returned to the team after a season at Sauber , his teammate was Sergio Pérez , who had been sacked at McLaren . Paul di Resta switched back to Mercedes-Benz in the DTM as a works driver . Adrian Sutil , who had a valid contract for the 2014 season, was bought out of his contract by Force India in favor of Pérez and moved to Sauber.
