The Ospelt Group is a food and animal feed company founded in 1957 by Herbert Ospelt and based in Bendern . It is a leading meat processing company in the Liechtenstein-Swiss customs union, which in 2006 had a turnover of 700 million Swiss francs and 2000 employees. In 2004 sales were 800 million Swiss francs.

In addition to well-known brands such as Malbuner sausage products, the company produces convenience products for well-known food and restaurant chains (e.g. bacon for McDonald's Switzerland ) as well as animal feed. Ospelt has production sites in Liechtenstein , Switzerland and at Apolda in Thuringia . In March 2019, several retailers ( Coop , Migros , Volg ) had to recall the salmon products from Ospelt food AG because of listeria . On May 26, 2020 there was a major fire in the company's animal feed factory, which opened in 2012 in Apolda, Thuringia.
