Nikolas Tombazis

Nikolas Tombazis or Nikos Tombazis ( Greek Νίκος Τομπάζης , born April 22, 1968 in Athens ) is a Greek automobile designer and constructor. He is currently working at the FIA and is one of the technical managers.

biography

Nikolas Tombazis studied at Imperial College London , where he graduated as an engineer . He then worked for Benetton from 1992 to 1995 and worked for Ferrari from 1997 . Tombazis moved from Ferrari to McLaren in 2004 , hoping to follow Adrian Newey's departure there as Technical Director. When this did not take place after his departure to Red Bull Racing , he switched back to Ferrari in 2006 , which was contested for a long time by McLaren until a press conference at Ferrari. There he became chief designer at Scuderia Ferrari. In December 2014 he was dismissed in the course of extensive team restructuring and replaced by Simone Resta . In 2016 Tombazis worked with Pat Fry for Manor Racing . Since March 2018 he has been working at the FIA as Head of Single-Seater Technical Matters and is responsible for all technical matters in the monoposto area.
