The Mercedes-Benz W 05 with the sales designation 14/60 PS Type 350 was a further development of the Mercedes-Benz W 03 and Mercedes-Benz W 04 , upper middle-class cars developed by Ferdinand Porsche .

The big car, whose predecessor did not sell well, was now equipped with a six-cylinder in-line engine with again increased displacement, this time with 3444 cm³ (bore × stroke = 80 mm × 115 mm). Now it had 60 hp (44 kW) at 3200 rpm. also available a little more power than its predecessor. The rear axle ratio was again slightly extended to 1: 5.0 (flat land version) or 1: 5.4 (mountain version). This resulted in slightly different top speeds of 103 km / h and 100 km / h.

Nobody had actually expected an improvement in sales. That is why Daimler-Benz AG entrusted Hans Nibel with the revision at the same time , which resulted in the successor model Mannheim 350 . They subsequently parted with Ferdinand Porsche.
