The Mercedes-Benz H 247 is a five-seat compact SUV from Daimler AG , which is marketed under the Mercedes-Benz brand as GLA . It is the successor to the Mercedes-Benz X 156 .
Model history
The second generation of the GLA was presented on December 11, 2019 as the GLA 200 and the AMG GLA 35 , as well as mentioning a plug-in hybrid variant that will be introduced later . Sales started on February 11, 2020. The model came to European dealers in April 2020. The Chinese and North American markets will follow shortly thereafter.
The AMG GLA 45 and the AMG GLA 45 S were to be presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the exhibition was canceled on February 28, 2020, which is why the premiere took place on the Internet. Both models take over the drive from models of the same name from the 177 series . They have been on sale since June 2020.
The variant with plug-in hybrid drive announced at the time of market launch was presented at the beginning of March 2020. The GLA 250 e is from 1.3-liter gasoline engine of the type M 282 (160 hp), with 118 kW in combination with a 75 kW (102 hp) electric motor driven. The system output is specified by Mercedes-Benz with 160 kW (218 hp). The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 15.6 kWh and enables an electric range of up to 71 kilometers.
Market positioning
Compared to the previous model, the H 247 is over ten centimeters higher. This means that the model now achieves dimensions similar to that of the Audi Q3 or BMW X1 competing models . Compared to the A-Class and the B-Class , the seating position is 14 and five centimeters higher. The rear seat can be moved lengthways by 14 centimeters for an extra charge. Mercedes-Benz specifies the trunk volume as 435 liters without and as 1430 liters with the rear seat folded down. The GLA is still the smallest model in the Mercedes-Benz SUV range.
production
The GLA is produced in Rastatt , Hambach (Moselle) and also for the Chinese market in Beijing .
technology
The GLA is based on the MFA2 front-wheel drive platform of the compact class models from Mercedes-Benz. The GLA uses the same technology that is also used in the A-Class , B-Class , CLA and GLB .
Mercedes-Benz gives the c w value as 0.28.
A version with a plug-in hybrid drive and an electric range of over 70 km was also announced.
"Mercedes-Benz User Experience"
Like the A-Class, the SUV has software that functions as an intelligent personal assistant . It is referred to by the manufacturer as the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). A voice control, which is activated with the command “Hey Mercedes”, can be used to give various commands, such as changing the radio station or changing the temperature. The software can be updated wirelessly .
