The Mercedes-Benz V 167 is an SUV from the German automobile brand Mercedes-Benz. It is the first model of the 167 series and the second generation with the sales designation GLE and replaces the Mercedes-Benz W 166 .
history
The 167 series is built at the US Mercedes-Benz plant in Tuscaloosa . The V 167 was shown for the first time at the 64th Paris Motor Show in October 2018. The start of sales and the first deliveries took place in 2019.
At the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019, the GLE 53, a variant of Mercedes-AMG, was presented.
In May 2019, Daimler presented the ESF 2019, a concept vehicle based on the GLE that provides an outlook on the safety systems of future models. The variant powered by a plug-in hybrid can drive autonomously if desired and is equipped with many approaches to active and passive safety.
The GLE Coupé was presented on August 28, 2019 . The first models are to be delivered from spring 2020.
In September 2019, Mercedes-Benz presented the GLE with a diesel plug-in hybrid drive at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main . The GLE 350 de has an accumulator with a capacity of 31.2 kWh. The electric range is specified as 106 km according to the NEDC.
The cheapest model is the GLE 300 d 4Matic for just over 65,800 euros.
GLE 63 and GLE 63 S from Mercedes-AMG were presented in November 2019 as part of the LA Auto Show .
technology
There were aerodynamic improvements, the c w value was improved according to Mercedes from 0.33 to 0.29.
The versions initially available have a transfer case with an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch . Four-cylinder variants appearing later are to have a center differential with 50:50 power distribution between the axles. A ground reduction is available on request.
The 48-V electrical system is new. This means that an “E- Active Body Control ” chassis (E-ABC) is possible, as the motors in the electrohydraulic dampers of this special equipment for six-cylinder models require up to 3 kW. It also has road condition detection (Road Surface Scan). Its energy requirement has been cut in half, and there is a free rocking function.
The instrument panel has two 12.3-inch screens, the right one of which is touch sensitive.
