background

Iveco Bus is one of the leading bus manufacturers in Europe and sold over 10,000 vehicles in 2007. That corresponds to a market share of over 20 percent. The current production program consists of the minibus Daily , the city bus Urbanway in various lengths, and his BRT reflect each Crealis , the regional bus Crossway (also known as low-entry bus ) and the coaches Evadys and Magelys . Earlier models were the Agora and Citelis city buses, the Arès , Arway and Axer regional buses and the Iliade coach .

The first Evadys was completed in November 2003 as the successor to the Euroclass . Production of the first generation ended in May 2013.

To Irisbus as subsidiaries also include Iveco Czech Republic (formerly Karosa ) and the body manufacturer Heuliez Bus in France, Orlandi in Italy and Ikarus Egyedi in Hungary . Like Ikarus Egyedi, the manufacturer Ikarus , which emerged from the Hungarian state-owned company, was also a subsidiary from 1999 to February 2006.

From 2003 to 2013, the Iveco Bus buses were manufactured under the brand name "Irisbus" and with the company symbol - a circularly curved dolphin - as a trademark. Until then, the brand names "Iveco" and "Renault" were still used on buses. Since May 2013 the brand name has been Iveco Bus . The Dolphin logo on the front of the vehicle has been replaced by Iveco lettering.

Other brands whose tradition is bundled in Iveco Bus are Berliet and Saviem in France (merged into Renault / RVI), Fiat , Lancia and Alfa Romeo in Italy (merged into Fiat), Magirus-Deutz in Germany, Pegaso in Spain (from Iveco) and Karosa in the Czech Republic. On September 14, 2011 it was announced that the plant in Valle Ufita was to be closed after only 145 vehicles were sold per year with a production capacity of over 1000 buses per year. The plant was already closed in 2013.

The sales center for Germany, Austria and Switzerland is located in Unterschleißheim .

Trolleybuses and lane buses

The trolleybuses are offered under the Cristalis product line, a special feature of this type are its wheel hub motors . Cristalis trolleybuses are offered as both solo and articulated vehicles . In France they run in Limoges , Lyon and Saint-Étienne , in Italy in Bologna and with the trolleybus in Milan and in Spain with the trolleybus Castellón de la Plana .

For the Romanian cities of Bucharest (100 pieces) and Cluj-Napoca (27 pieces), trolleybuses of the Irisbus Agora type with conventional drive were also built between 2004 and 2008. They were derived from the omnibus model of the same name, but they were created in cooperation with the Romanian vehicle manufacturer Astra from Arad .

In the production of trolleybuses, Irisbus also worked with the Czech mechanical engineering and electrical company Škoda Transportation from 2003 to 2009 . Irisbus supplied the bodies for the vehicles of the 24Tr and 25Tr series, and in 2004 Škoda stopped manufacturing its own car bodies. In the meantime, however, Škoda is purchasing bodies from the Polish company Solaris Bus & Coach .

In addition, Iveco Bus, together with Matra and Alstom, manufactures the Civis optical track bus system . The principle has so far been used in Bologna and Las Vegas (each with a diesel-electric drive), and the Cristalis trolleybuses there also run in Castellón de la Plana.
