The Cratez is a German music producer , songwriter and musician duo from Göttingen , consisting of David Kraft (born July 8, 1990 in Göttingen) and Tim Wilke (born May 31, 1989 in Göttingen).

Career

David Kraft and Tim Wilke have been producing music since they were fourteen and initially offered their productions on various national and international platforms on the Internet. Their instrumentals became internationally known and in 2010 they formed a producer duo under the name The Cratez.

The single I'm not Racist by American rapper Joyner Lucas (2017), produced by The Cratez and TheBeatPlug, achieved international attention . The single won a gold record for 500,000 sales in the United States , and the video for the single was nominated for a Grammy . The video went viral on YouTube and had more than 141.2 million views (as of August 11, 2020). The Cratez were also represented with the song Ivor on the internationally acclaimed platinum album Mwaka Moon (2017) by the French artist Kalash .

German artists also became aware of the productions. After working with Credibil and Ali As , the breakthrough in Germany followed in 2017 with the single Was du Liebe nennst by rapper Bausa , which was produced by The Cratez in cooperation with Jugglerz . The best-selling German-speaking rap single was the first German rap song to achieve diamond status (1,000,000 units). The single stayed at the top of the German single charts for nine weeks , longer than any other German rap single before. The single was sold more than 1.3 million times worldwide, making it one of the best-selling singles in the country. The music video for the single published on YouTube has so far reached more than 146.4 million views (as of August 11, 2020).

Between February and October 2018, The Cratez was able to top the German and Austrian single charts nine times with nine different songs. With the single Big Body Benz by Bonez MC , released in June 2020 , they reached the twelfth number one single in the charts in Germany and the sixteenth in Austria. In the list of artists with the highest number of BVMI-certified sound carrier sales, they are more successful than artists like Modern Talking , Sarah Connor or Sido, with more than 6.9 million sales in Germany . They have achieved more than 7,680,000 certified sales worldwide.

They have been under contract with Sony Music since 2020 . On February 28, 2020, her first own, exclusively digitally published producer album Nonstop was released . The single skiing with Bausa & Maxwell feat. Joshi Mizu from the producer's album was awarded a gold record for 200,000 sales in Germany in March 2020.
