Gary "Joyner" Lucas (born August 17, 1988 in Worcester , Massachusetts ) is an American rapper and singer . He became known with the play Ross Capicchioni .

career

Lucas started rapping when he was ten. His role models Eminem , The Notorious BIG , Nas and Method Man gave him the impetus . He attended South High Community School in Worcester.

Beginnings

Lucas initially had the stage name G-Storm . In 2007 he changed his stage name to Future Joyner and started working with his uncle Cyrus tha Great and founded the group Film Skool Rejekts . In the same year they published the Mixtape Workprint: The Greatest Mixtape of All Time . Lucas published his first own mixtape Listen 2 Me under the stage name Future Joyner in 2011. But after the rapper Future became more and more popular, it was renamed Joyner Lucas .

Increasing awareness

Lucas released his next mixtape Along Came Joyner on April 5th, 2015 with the track Ross Capicchioni , which was very well received. After the song's success, Lucas performed at the BET Hip-Hop Awards- Cypher 2015.

Lucas signed with Atlantic Records on September 21, 2016. Here he published his project 508-507-2209 on June 16, 2017 . The mixtape, which includes the tracks I'm Sorry , Ultrasound and Winterblues , reached number 7 on the Heatseekers charts .

On November 28, 2017, Lucas published his single I'm Not Racist on his YouTube account, which went viral and has generated over 138 million views to date (as of May 5, 2020). Lucas and singer Chris Brown announced on February 25, 2018 their plans to release a collaboration album entitled Angels & Demons . From this the track Stranger Things, I Don't Die and Just Let Go was released the next day .

Lucas came in 2018 when Featuring on the song Lucky You by Eminem's album Kamikaze on. On October 12, 2018, Lucas announced a new project called ADHD . He released the single I Love from his announced project ADHD on October 17, 2018 .

On December 23, 2018, Lucas announced that he was going separate ways with Atlantic Records.
