Heatseekers Charts

The Heatseekers Charts are a ranking that has been compiled by the US music magazine Billboard since 1991 to highlight sales of new artists. It is divided into an album and a single chart.

criteria

To be eligible for a listing in the Heatseekers Charts , the artist may not have an album in the top 100 of the album , in the top 50 of the single charts or a top ten position in the genre-specific album charts. A listing in these areas means that a work and the subsequent publications no longer qualify for the Heatseekers Charts .

However, this definition can also lead to an artist being listed as “New and Coming” for decades. The group The Tragically Hip achieved ten entries in the Heatseekers Charts between 1992 and 2016 , as they had not been able to place an album in the first 100 places in the album charts up to that point. Many artists have managed to bypass a listing on the Heatseekers charts by making their debut work in the top 100 of the official album charts.

For the determination of the Heatseeker Albums Charts , the sales via Nielsen SoundScan are calculated and their results are used. The 25 best-selling records are released weekly. The Heatseekers Songs Charts were last raised in November 2014. A combination of radio airplay, determined by Nielsen BDS , the Nielsen Soundscan database on record sales and online streaming was used for this. A song was no longer qualified for a listing if the artist was able to achieve a piece at least 50 in the official single charts or land a radio hit on mainstream radio (before December 5, 1998).
