Azzi memo
Azzi Memo (born July 5, 1994 in Midyat , Turkey ; real name: Mehmet Seyitoglu ) is a German rapper of Kurdish descent from Hanau , who is under contract with the Generation Azzlack label.
Life
Azzi Memo grew up in Hanau, Hesse . His family moved from the asylum seekers home to a high-rise in a socially deprived area in Hanau. As the oldest child, he took on responsibility for his younger siblings and acted as an interpreter. His school career was not successful, according to his own statement he fell "as a schoolboy into a void" and therefore screwed up 'shit'. In 2013, however, he made up his Abitur and completed an apprenticeship as a retail salesman. Encouraged by his friends to pursue his rap career, he started uploading videos to YouTube . His first clip was Nightlife on the youth platform 385idéal. He was also involved in the city's youth plenary.
He got to know Arrest Warrant through his friend Nimo and his brother Capo , who signed him to Generation Azzlack in spring 2017 . His first album Trap 'n' Haus, which he himself describes as a mixtape , was released on May 26, 2017, making it the second album of the Azzlack generation after Soufian's album Allé allé . It reached number 31 in the German charts. The single AMG2 was successful together with the rapper Eno , which reached number 8 in the German charts.
During the fifth video release , Mufasa , a bizarre incident occurred when the video suddenly showed a boy who had been missing for several days. The rapper had gone to Berlin and spontaneously shot the video with friends in Görlitzer Park when the missing boy appeared in the picture. A day later, the boy was found by his family.
In September 2018 his debut album Surf 'n' Turf was released . The two pre-singles Flouz together with Capo and Bei Nacht both hit the German charts.
In 2019 he starred in the Netflix series Skylines .
A few days after the attack in his hometown of Hanau in February 2020, Azzi Memo announced that he was working on a benefit song for the victims and relatives of the attack. He also visited some of the survivors.
At the beginning of April he finally brought out the track Are you awake together with 18 other musicians . The song is primarily directed against racism . At the same time, the fatalities in Hanau are commemorated.
