Black Friday is the twelfth solo album by the Berlin rapper Bushido . The album was released on June 9, 2017 on the ersguterjunge label and reached number 1 in the album charts in Germany , Austria and Switzerland . In addition, a week after its release, the album was streamed a total of 14.6 million times on Spotify , holding the record as the most streamed album by a German-speaking artist on Spotify for weeks. Black Friday is also the last album that was published by ersguterjunge before the longer business partners Bushido and Arafat Abou-Chaker split up.

The album is assigned to the genre gangsta rap and battle rap . This is particularly characterized by a stylization of Bushido's image and an explicit representation of violence. In this respect, Black Friday is similar to Bushido's previous albums, but the tracks Papa and Oma Lise are an exception as they are very personal and emotional tracks (compared to the other tracks on the album). Regarding the two tracks, Bushido explained in an interview with BZ in June 2017: “I now have a huge family with five children at home, and I was in a good shape to make dad . And also Grandma Lise four years after my mother's death . And if I feel different about the next album, I'll just pull the crowbar out again. ”Otherwise you will find mostly explicit gangsta rap tracks on the album. This applies to the standard edition as well as to the bonus EP.

The album was produced by Bushido himself and his usual production team, consisting of Beatzarre and Djorkaeff , as well as producers OZ , Nico Chiara , Nico Santos , Shindy , Myvisionblurry , Babyblue , BLWYRMND , Fler , ForeignTeck , HellYes and Christopher Bauer . Most of the background music is kept quite dark. In addition, it can be stated that most of the tracks feature classic hip-hop beats (e.g. Sodom & Gomorrah) , but there are also tracks with trap beats (e.g. let's go inside) or also on the album classic hip-hop beats with trap passages (e.g. fallout ).

Black Friday as a standard edition and box set, including a bonus EP with ten songs, instrumentals, a t-shirt and a record version of the 2002 collab album Carlo Cokxxx Nutten by Bushido and Fler . A golden ticket was enclosed in 200 randomly selected box sets, which grants the winner (including accompaniment) access to each of the 13 concerts of the Bushido Black Friday Tour in December 2017. As a follow-up to the publication of Black Friday , a 13-concert tour had been announced for autumn 2017 under the name Black Friday Tour , which, however, was postponed from Bushido to May 2018 in autumn 2017. Bushido gave a herniated disc as the reason for this . After Bushido and his long-term business partner Arafat Abou-Chaker split up at the beginning of May 2018 and the contractual situation of numerous very young artists was disputed between the two parties, Bushido finally canceled the planned Black Friday tour via Facebook .

Black Friday entered the German album charts at number 1 on June 16, 2017 and stayed in the top 100 for 19 weeks. The sound carrier also reached the top of the charts in Austria and Switzerland. In Germany, Bushido is Bushido 's fifth number 1 solo album in the series with Black Friday and the seventh in total by then. In the German annual album charts in 2017, it was ranked 16. In 2018, Black Friday was awarded a gold record in Germany for the sale of over 100,000 units. In 2020 it was announced via Bushido's Instagram that the album had also cracked gold status in Switzerland.

Singles and music videos

The song Fallout was released as a music video on March 17, 2017 . The first single on the album, called Gehen wir rein , was released on April 7, 2017 and reached number 65 in the German charts. This was followed by the release Sodom & Gomorrah , which entered the charts at number 20, and the release Papa , which occupied position 17. Music videos were also released for the singles. The music video for the song Sodom & Gomorrah was published on 18 May 2017 the music video for Papa appeared on June 1, 2017. Black Friday received mostly positive reviews.
