At the beginning of his career he appeared under the stage name "Ali" and later renamed himself "Ali Bumaye". His stage name "Ali Bumaye" is based on the audience call " Ali , boma ye!" ( Lingála : "Ali, kill him!") During the Rumble in the Jungle boxing match .

He has had his own YouTube channel since September 2019, on which the music video for the song George appeared a month later . The title alludes to the saying Is that all you have, George? which Muhammed Ali said to his opponent George Foreman during the Rumble in the Jungle boxing match , and which Ali Bumaye also quotes in the chorus of the song.
