reception
The e-zine Laut.de rated criminals from the desert with two out of a possible five points. From the point of view of the editor Laura Sprenger, " what you hear after 40 minutes of playing time fizzles out faster [...] than Kurdo could say 'Shisharapper' " ". While “ maybe something like passion ” could be heard on the debut album Slum Dog Millionaer , Kurdo emphasized “ now every opportunity that rap is business, and prefers to present [...] status symbols. “In addition to the“ poor content ”, the rapper's lecture is also criticized. He spits out “ words and scraps of sentences with an international twist, carelessly associative and beyond any grammar ”. In addition, Kurdo does not vary his lecture. The producers, on the other hand, deliver “ with sluggish drums, trap basslines and an oriental touch, solid beats that exactly meet the expectations of this album. “In the Laut.de reader charts 2016, Verbrecher aus der Desert took 23rd place in the“ 25 most hated albums of the year ”.
In his review, Steffen Bauer from MZEE.com draws the conclusion that Kurdo cannot be accused of " fraudulent labeling" , since the album delivers exactly what it promises "with the exception of a brief exception at the end" , namely "classic gangster rap". Unfortunately, the Heidelberg resident did not convince the author because Kurdo "neither had a pronounced rap style nor the talent to create interesting images with words" .
