Michael "Shindy" Schindler (born September 7, 1988 in Bietigheim-Bissingen ) is a German rapper , producer and bestselling author with Greek roots.

Life

Michael Schindler was born the son of a German and a Greek woman in Bietigheim-Bissingen. In his childhood he spent a lot of time in the restaurant of his Greek grandparents. He started rapping at the age of twelve. Two years later, the rapper Jaysus , who was also of Greek origin, became aware of him and produced some freetracks with him. Schindler studied business administration for one semester at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart .

Career

youth

He came into contact with music in his childhood. As a primary school student, his grandmother gave him a guitar to emulate his idol Michael Jackson . He later discovered the VHS tape from the Up 'N Smoke Tour . From then on, out of inspiration, he wanted to produce and record hip-hop music . He often met his friends in their spare time to record songs. In his book, he reports that he deleted every song recorded at the time because he no longer liked it after a few weeks.

Crime Payz (2008-2013)

Through the Internet, Shindy came across battle rap websites where he uploaded his songs. Jaysus and Kay One became aware of him and sought contact with him. After several meetings, they accepted him into their hip-hop group Crime Payz. As a member of the group he wrote many songs for the two rappers and also recorded songs himself, but Kay One soon moved to Berlin to pursue his career. After a dispute between Jaysus and Shindy, Shindy decides to follow Kay One to Berlin .

Time at ersguterjunge (2013-2018)

Due to the close relationship with Kay One as part of the Crime Payz crew, Shindy joined Bushido's label ersguterjunge in 2012 . His first releases were guest posts on Kay One's album Prince of Belvedair . Shindy also appeared as a feature on the subsequent Kay One single Finale we come . The single reached number 29 in the German charts. and was Shindy's first chart listing. Together with Bushido he recorded the single Panamera Flow , which reached number 51 in the German charts. The music video Stress Without Reason contained in the album was removed from YouTube after about 45 hours , but had reached a new "click record" with over 1.1 million clicks within 48 hours, surpassing Dynamit by Kollegah & Farid Bang by 100,000 clicks. Effective July 19, 2013, the album was indexed . The governing mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit , filed a criminal complaint against Bushido. For the 2.0 version of the album NWA , the song was re-recorded together with the rapper Haftbefehl and released under the title Stress with Reason . The track reached number 21 in the German single charts. In June 2015, the indexing of the album was lifted again by the federal inspection agency for media harmful to minors.

Shindy's second studio album FVCKB! TCHE $ GETMONE ¥ was released in October 2014 and, according to GfK Entertainment, was the fifth most successful rap album of 2014. It achieved gold status in Germany. In November 2015 the collaboration album CLA $$ IC with Bushido was released, which reached number 1 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and received a gold record in all three countries. Shindy has been working as a model for the Cayler & Sons fashion company since November 2015. In May 2016 Shindy's autobiography Der Schöne & die Beats was published , which entered Spiegel's bestseller list of non-fiction books .

On November 11, 2016, Shindy released his third solo album DREAMS , which also reached number 1 in the German charts. Since a feature on the Bushido album Black Friday in 2017, ersguterjunge has not released any music by Shindy.

Friends with Money (from the end of 2018)

After he hadn't been publicly present for over a year, Shindy said in an interview with BOA magazine in November 2018 about the reasons for his media absence: "To unravel everything that has happened over the past few months and years, a Netflix - Series not enough. The last few months have been absolute psychological terror. ”He also discussed the power struggle between his former label bosses Bushido and Arafat Abou-Chaker:“ I have the feeling that they think: if you win me in the end, you will also win the war ” he is about to make a comeback in a new guise: “I can start. In January 2019 Shindy celebrated his comeback with the single DODI . The song was released under his own, newly founded label Friends with Money and immediately reached number 1 in the German single charts. Conflict with Fard (2012)

In several interviews about the publication Prince of Belvedair , Shindy made negative comments about the German rapper Fard . This was followed by derogatory lines about Fard in the songs Sportsfreund and The Gang Never Sleeps . Fard replied a little later in his song Molotov , where he also attacked Kay One. From 2012, one of the most famous conflicts in German rap history arose between Kay One , his former friend and label boss Bushido and Shindy. In April 2012, Kay One announced that he would say goodbye to the ersguterjunge label . Five days earlier, Bushido had registered the word mark “Kay One” with the German Patent and Trademark Office . Kay One commented negatively about it and said that one wanted to end his career. An objection was initially raised against the registration of the word mark and an application for deletion was finally made a year later. In May 2012, Kay One said he was attacked with knives by masked people after two appearances, but he was not injured. He accused Bushido of having sent these people to him and then accused him of a crime; Bushido expressed himself publicly and denied these allegations. In May 2013, Bushido's colleague Shindy, who was also in an argument with Kay One, brought out the Disstrack Alcoholized Pedophiles . In this, he assumed Kay, among other things, wrote the lyrics for his album Prince of Belvedair without ever having received any money for it. However, the accusation of pedophilia against Kay and his stepfather "Olliwood" caused a particularly big stir . Kay had the Disstrack blocked shortly afterwards and shortly afterwards announced on Facebook that she would bring the whole truth to light. On August 1, 2013, the disstrack Nothing but Truth by Kay One was finally released , whereby the latter emphasized that the song was not a diss , but simply the truth. In the song, Kay One raps about his past with Bushido and Shindy. There he accused, among other things, that not he, but Shindy and Bushido were pedophiles and Bushido had cheated on his own wife with a seventeen-year-old girl. Bushido then announced on YouTube that they would also be releasing a Disstrack. Another high point of the dispute came when Kay One went to Stern TV and talked about Bushido's relationship with the Mafia. He claimed that he and Bushido had been slaves to the family and that Bushido wanted to flee Berlin himself.

Bushido’s answer followed on November 22, 2013 under the name Life and Death of Kenneth Glöckler on his official YouTube channel. The eleven-minute disstrack reflected Kay One's career from Bushido's point of view and said that Bushido abandoned each of his old comrades in order to make a lot of money. Kay One was also alleged to have an affair with the transsexual Lorielle London . The Disstrack was able to reach the 1 million click mark in just seven hours and thus set a new record. Kay One then described Bushido on Facebook as a hate preacher and his activity as a purest promotional move. Since Kay One's publications about Bushido's relationship with the Abou Chaker clan , Glöckler has been under police protection because he received death threats.

Dangerous Assault Conviction (2016)

At around 4 a.m. on January 1, 2016, Schindler and his companions, as well as more than 20 other people, were waiting for a taxi at Rotebühlplatz in Stuttgart . Under contentious circumstances, two men contracted "a bloody nose, a broken lip, a crack in the cheek and a number of bruises". Because of what happened, Schindler was charged at the Stuttgart District Court .

Co-plaintiffs were a 29-year-old and his acquaintance - a 35-year-old police chief . The 29-year-old said he asked Schindler if he was Bushido , whereupon he was beaten by Schindler and, lying on the ground, continued to be mistreated by Schindler and his companions. The acquaintance said he had come to the rescue and was also beaten to the ground.

A witness, a police officer who was called to the scene, testified that Schindler kicked one of the people on the ground in the shoulder. In addition, people from the group are said to have alleged that police beat the men with batons.

Schindler, represented by Martina Kohler, said "I didn't kick or hit anyone". According to Schindler, when a taxi was seen, he should have pushed forward and offered the driver € 100 for the ride. He was then harassed and there was a scuffle until the police came. He had had three bottles of sparkling wine and could no longer remember exactly what had happened.

The prosecution requested a one-year and four-month sentence, which was joined by the co-plaintiffs' lawyers. In her plea, Kohler emphasized the provocations against Schindler and the general alcoholism and therefore applied for a fine for simple bodily harm .

The judge sentenced Schindler for aggravated assault in two cases to imprisonment of one year and two months, the parole was suspended. In addition, Schindler has to pay € 1,000 to the co-plaintiffs and € 5,000 to a non-profit organization.

Schindler and Kohler brought an appeal against the judgment calling a. In the appeal hearing before the Stuttgart Regional Court, Schindler confessed to having injured the two men and expressed his regret. The district court reduced the prison sentence to eleven months. The execution of the prison sentence was also suspended. In addition, Schindler was sentenced to pay the two men a total of € 6000 in compensation for pain and suffering.

Conflict with Shirin David (since 2019)

On the first version of the song Affalterbach , Shirin David was originally heard as a hook singer. However, she never gave permission to publish the recorded lines. According to her, a song was originally planned, but the project was discontinued because the two artists could not agree on the design of the music video. The singer then had the song blocked. A revised version of the song, with a different hook singer, was subsequently released.

On the Instagram page of Shirin David, she explained her point of view, including that Shindy also treated her with condescending sentences like " All right, Beyoncé, you better stay at home you nutcase " . In response to this post, Shindy made fun of her sales numbers on the Late Night Berlin Show.
