Lorielle london (* 24. December 1983 in Birkenfeld as Lorenzo Woodard ) is a German transsexual entertainer .

Life

Lorielle London was born in 1983 in Birkenfeld as the child of a German dressmaker and an American soldier and grew up in nearby Baumholder .

From childhood until her TV debut, she worked exclusively in various performing and visual arts professions. Hermann Spaan, lecturer in painting, free and applied drawing at the Idar-Oberstein location of the Trier University of Applied Sciences , discovered Lorielle London at the Nana Prestel art school. She began to study painting with him at the institute at the age of 12. She then sold her works, mainly portraits and nude drawings, in various exhibitions. Her mother acted as her agent into adulthood. London discovered her love for singing in her youth in an American gospel choir. As a solo performer followed various appearances at festivals, she gave concerts, and was engaged as the lead vocal for various bands.

In addition, she devoted herself to contortion , a form of acrobatics , for 17 years . At that time she was one of the few male contortionists in Germany.

Due to a serious broken voice, she gave up her singing ambitions and decided, like her mother, to first train as a dressmaker and then study fashion design.

TV debut - participation in Germany seeks the superstar

Lorielle London became known commercially in 2003 under the name "Lorenzo" as a candidate for the second season of  Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS). After not making it into the "recall" in the first season, she applied in the following season with the song  I Just Called to Say I Love You by Stevie Wonder  and finally took tenth place in the themed shows. Even if the singing talent was there, she caused a sensation through her androgynous appearance and her gestures, which were often discussed and ridiculed in satirical programs. London says that after she left she had to learn quickly to cope with her celebrities and the image that was created, which was completely contrary to her previous artistic life.

Further career

After leaving  Germany looking for the superstar , the TV makers' interest remained. She was seen in various series, shows and numerous boulevard programs. 2004 London took, among others, the reality TV telecast Die Alm part. The Alm, which was stuck in the quota low up until then, achieved high quotas due to the relocation of London. The broadcaster ProSieben extended the program by a week and London stayed until the final. She then appeared for a number of years as the protagonist for various reports and series on Sat.1, including for the Sat.1 breakfast television . In 2006 she made her acting debut in Die ProSieben-Märchenstunde .

In the fall of 2006, Lorielle London publicly came out as transident. She put down her male identity holistically and announced that she would like to lead her life as a woman in the future. In connection with her professional endeavors, she adopted the stage name Lory Glory. She also underwent feminizing operations as part of her identity change .

The gospel singer Lori Hölzel with the stage name Lori Glori obtained a court ruling that forbade London to choose a name because of the risk of confusion. She then took the name Lorielle London in October 2008 .

In January 2009, she took part as a candidate on the reality show I'm a Star - Get Me Out of Here! on RTL . In spite of all prejudices, the FAZ described their appearance as "human, vulnerable, genuine". In the end, she took second place, just behind the actress Ingrid van Bergen . Since then she has been active as a TV guest, reporter and co-presenter. In 2009 she reported on the red carpet of the Echo Awards for RTL and interviewed Helene Fischer, Taylor Swift, Lionel Richie and Udo Lindenberg, among others. At the Deutschland sucht den Superstar finals in 2009 she worked as a backstage reporter for the exclusive special “Die Nacht der Superstars”. As a celebrity guest and co-host on Big Brother , she was at the side of TV host Miriam Pielhau . Two more guest appearances on Big Brother followed in 2010. The TV production company Norddeich TV hired her in 2011 for the program Die Schulermittler , in order to coach a young transgender person. The episode was broadcast on October 19, 2011 on RTL . In the same year she moved to live with her boyfriend in London . In 2012 you saw London on the RTL show Total Blackout . She prevailed against candidates like Roberto Blanco and Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht and finally won as “Queen of Darkness”. She also reported daily as a reporter about current events in the jungle for the jungle camp magazine, which was broadcast on RTL Nitro in 2013 .
