The Cooking Arena was a TV broadcast by VOX . In the show, selected amateur chefs cooked against prominent TV chefs . The program was moderated by the presenters Florian König and Heiko Waßer , who are known from Formula 1 broadcasts . She was supported by marketing and event consultant Peter Wiese, who also acted as a buyer, food consultant and “cooking expert”. In November 2007 the program started four issues, from December 23, 2007 to April 2008 VOX showed a new issue each month. From 2008 to 2013, new episodes were broadcast regularly, mostly every other Sunday evening, in the modified format Promi Kocharena .

A celebrity chef (changed after each episode) competed against five candidates on the show. The candidates were former winners of the daily VOX cookery program The Perfect Dinner and, since 2008, the program Unter Volldampf! . One of the candidates was selected by random generator, initially for the starter . The candidates were informed beforehand about the dishes to be cooked, each with three, previously five, courses and were able to prepare or practice in the studio kitchen. The celebrity chef did not find out what to cook until immediately before the start of the respective course. For each course there was a time limit within which the meal had to be prepared. Afterwards, a jury of experts decided who was the winner of each course through tasting and subsequent awarding of points. If the celebrity chef and the candidate got the same number of points, the candidate won. If a candidate won a course against the professional chef, he received € 3,000 and was allowed to cook the next course, whereby the possible profit increased by € 3,000 each time. There was a special prize for each dessert, such as a kitchen or a trip.
