Ralf Zacherl (born January 9, 1971 in Wertheim ) is a German chef and TV chef .

Life

Ralf Zacherl grew up in the Sachsenhausen district of Wertheim , where his parents have run the Engel inn, which has been family-owned for over 125 years . After completing secondary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a chef at the Hotel Schwan in Wertheim under its chef at the time, Otto Hoh. His sister Jasmin, who is ten years younger than him, is also a professional cook. Zacherl was married to Ulrike Leifer since 2009. In 2018 he married his new partner, with whom he has been together since 2011.

Zacherl then went into business for himself and offers event cooking and cooking courses, among other things.

In addition, Zacherl has been a TV chef for many years. Through the daily cooking program Zacherl: Simply cook! on ProSieben he became publicly known outside of gourmet circles. Then he was seen on the private broadcaster RTL II in the format Die Kochprofis and in Planet Cook ( KiKA , ZDF ). Appearances at Kerner , Lanz cooks and guest appearances in various other programs, such as the comedy show Friday Night News , followed. After the first line-up of the professional chefs separated from RTL II, he is on the road as a coach with the other two protagonists of the show Mario Kotaska and Martin Baudrexel in a similar format on VOX at Die Küchenchefs in German gastronomy. At the beginning of 2015, the TV station VOX announced the end of the cooking show. In October 2014 he opened the restaurant "Schmidt Z&KO" in Berlin together with his colleague Mario Kotaska and the Berlin wine shop Schmidt. In addition, the two chefs offer cooking courses there under the title “Genussschule”. Since November 2016, Zacherl has formed the jury for the MasterChef program on Sky together with Sybille Schönberger and Justin Leone .

Awards

In his first year as head chef, the Graue Haus in Oestrich-Winkel was awarded 16 points by Gault-Millau and one Michelin star in 1997 . Since he does not currently manage a restaurant in a responsible position, he is currently not rated in these gastro guides.

He received the Gastro Award for Best Newcomer in 2001 and was the climber of the year in 2001 with the Berlin Master Chefs. In 2002 he became a Berlin master chef.
