Max Neugebauer

Max Neugebauer (born September 8, 1900 in Barzdorf , Austrian Silesia , † March 9, 1971 in Korneuburg ) was an Austrian educator, popular educator and politician ( SPÖ ).

Life

Neugebauer attended the teacher training college in Opava and in 1921 accepted a position as a teacher in Lower Austria. He received his doctorate after studying philosophy and history in 1939 at the University of Vienna .

From 1945 to 1966 Max Neugebauer was a member of the National Council . After 1945, the supporter of Glöckel's school reform tried to reintroduce an orderly democratic school system. The first drafts for a school law were drawn up under his leadership. On March 1, 1960 he became the executive president of the Vienna City School Council. In this position he successfully propagated the major school reform in parliament in 1962. In 1964, Max Neugebauer was elected Federal Chairman of Children's Friends Austria .

In Korneuburg the Dr.-Neugebauer-Gasse was named after him.
