Frank Buchholz (born April 21, 1967 in Dortmund ) is a German chef , television chef , cookbook author and entrepreneur .

Life

Buchholz, son of the Unna restaurateur Doris Gala actually wanted to learn a commercial profession. However, since he did not get an apprenticeship as a hotel clerk , he accepted one as a cook. From 1986 to 1996 Buchholz completed his training with Franz Feckl , Heinz Winkler and Gerd Käfer in the Käfer-Stuben in Munich , the Tristan restaurant in Palma , the Tantris restaurant in Munich and the Marchesi restaurant in Milan . He then was Maitre de Cuisine at the Brückenkeller from 1996 to 1999in Frankfurt am Main

Frank Buchholz became known through the television cooking show Kochduell, which was broadcast from 1997 to 2005 . In 2004 he was also seen in the series Die Männerkochschule on RTL . In 1998 he was a lecturer in food and art at the Frankfurt Schillerschule . In 1999 he was awarded 3 hats and 17 points by Gault-Millau as the most innovative chef of the year . In the same year he founded the Junge Wilde association with chef friends . In 2000 he opened his culinary school taste workshop in Unna. In 2004 he finally opened the cooking workshop in Mainz-Gonsenheim and in 2005 his restaurant Buchholz . In 2007 the Buchholz restaurant was awarded a Michelin star .

Until 2008, Frank Buchholz was seen in the show Promi-Kocharena on the TV channel VOX . Since 2007 he can be seen in the state show on SWR Rheinland-Pfalz and since 2009 occasionally in the ARD Buffet . The Aral Schlemmer Atlas has named Frank Buchholz “Newcomer of the Year 2012”. Together with Chakall and Tarik Rose he could be seen from August 2013 to July 2015 in the Beef Buddies program on ZDFneo .

At the end of 2015 he closed his Buchholz restaurant . He justified this as follows: "It is rather the increased demands of the guests and the disproportionate effort that, in my opinion, have become too big and burdensome". As the owner of the property, Buchholz continues to run the cooking school, the delicatessen shop and the boathouse.
