production

Various producers were involved in the creation of the sampler, who contributed the beat and melody of the pieces. The duo Beathoavenz produced the songs Christmas song , Oh Shit! , Böser Blick and the successful single Mein Block , the original version of which appeared on Sido's later album Maske . Bommer is responsible for the intro and for the remix of Bei Nacht Shangoe. In addition to his work as a rapper, B-Tight was also involved in the production. He contributed the beats of the songs Aggro Part 3 , I'm Clean and Earlier . Sido also produced the piece Paradies from the X version of the sampler and Bushido the title bulletproof .

Self-awareness

Sido, Bushido and B-Tight spoke to Silvia Helbig from taz in September 2003 about the music "aggro-rap". Sido and B-Tight criticized the fact that German-speaking hip-hop is made by “ welfare kids ”, which contradicts the real origin of rap music on the street. You yourself come from the Märkisches Viertel , which you call the ghetto. The aim of the rappers' music is to draw attention to the fact that there are socially disadvantaged areas in Germany. Since they grew up in poor conditions themselves, they can present the "hard" rap authentically.

Assessment

After an application for indexing of the samplers Aggro Announcement No. 1 , Aggro Announcement No. 2 and Aggro Announcement No. 3 had been made, the art historian and cultural sociologist Roland Seim wrote an expert opinion on the publications. Both the rappers and numerous listeners to the music come from a “ depraved street milieu ”. The participants of the hip-hop culture of this milieu are subject to various “ dress and behavior codes ”, which are important for self-discovery as a means of identification for the children of the subculture. The criticized texts contain " vulgar language and stressed macho behavior ", which, according to Seim, should underline the credibility of the presenter within his gang and represent " aggression fantasies inherent in puberty ". In addition, Seim compares the use of " socially taboo " words with the texts of American rappers such as 50 Cent and Eminem , which are less criticized for many listeners because they are incomprehensible. Topics such as sexual experiences are presented more directly in the lyrics than, for example, in German Schlager music. The description of sexual intercourse at a young age has already been taken up in the literature, as in Lolita . This can be seen as a sign of “a lack of parental care or general moral decline ”, but neither the musicians nor the listeners are the cause of these abuses, but results or “ victims ”. Seim speaks out against indexing, as this does not achieve the goal of improving the living conditions discussed in the songs and arouses the curiosity of potential listeners. The indexing deprives the musicians of the " chance of acceptance and recognition beyond their own limited primary level ". He also points out that, for example, the depictions of violence in the novel American Psycho are considered to be " artifacts worth protecting under constitutional law." Rap music should also be given scope for experimentation with regard to dealing with social problems.

indexing

Cover of the sampler "Aggro Ansage Nr. 3X"

The Federal Testing Office for Media Harmful to Young People classified the album as unsuitable for minors and decided to index Aggro Announcement No. 3 from December 31, 2004. The songs Bums mich! Were responsible for the indexing . by B-Tight and Bendt, Like 1 Gee by Bushido and For the sect by Die Sect. In the justification of the committee, the image of women in the musicians' texts is particularly emphasized:

These lyrics violate the dignity of women to an extreme degree and paint a picture of inhuman. In these texts, young listeners are presented with an image of women that is invariably negative and degrading. It is diametrically opposed to the educational goal that predominates in society, to convey to children and adolescents respect for their fellow human beings and mutual respect and in this way to make them strong for equal and loving partnerships. Texts like these lead to the fact that male young people, especially those from an authoritarian-patriarchal environment, question the contemptuous treatment of women propagated in the songs even less or adopt it in their own behavior. On the other hand, young female listeners, including those who already know or are suffering from degradation of women or violence against women from their social environment, are further downgraded in their self-esteem. There is a risk that a willingness to suffer increases in them, due to which they will - continue - to accept the bad treatment of their person, infliction of violence or sexual assault without resistance. "

- Excerpt from the justification for the indexing of the aggro announcement no.3

For the new release Aggro Announcement No. 3X , the affected pieces as well as the Skits Call a neger and Discipline were removed from the sound carrier. Since Aggro Berlin announced in the course of the indexing process on the label's website about the impending indexing of Aggro announcement no. 3 and advertised with the purchase of the sound carrier, those responsible for the independent label also had to pay a fine.

success

Aggro Ansage Nr. 3 was one of the most successful releases from the German hip-hop music genre in 2003. Around 60,000 copies of the sampler had been sold by the time it was indexed.

Musical criticism

The hip-hop magazine Juice rated Aggro Announcement No. 3 in early 2004 with three out of a possible six “crowns”. The skits that make up eight of the eighteen titles are included in the evaluation. While the live skits “ aptly illustrate ” the previous tour of the rappers , call a negro and disciplineonly provoke a shake of the head .” Fler's contributions to his solo song Oh Shit! as well as together with Bushido on Kugelsicher are praised as an “ appealing performance ”. The two pieces by Sido also receive positive mention. Bushido's At Night RMX , on the other hand, is less exciting than the original, while Wie 1 Gee , as a personal song for Bushido's standards, compensates for the contribution At Night RMX . Fuck me is rated as “ unspeakable fuck techno ” just as negatively as the title For the Sect , on which, for example, MOK's contribution that is captured over the phone cannot convince. In contrast is the past of B-Tight really good. The following conclusion was made in the review: “In all probability, this compilation will not shock anyone, too much has already been heard from this direction. The third “Aggro Ansage” definitely offers a handful of tracks that are worth listening to. "

For the publication of the X version , a review was published on the Hip-Hop.de website. Since Bushidos Wie 1 Gee had to be deleted from the sound carrier in the course of the indexing, the best title of the original version is lost from the editor's point of view. I am clean by B-Tight, which can be found on the new release , is a new highlight. Furthermore, the piece " Bulletproof" is praised. This makes the author think back with “sadness” to the time when Bushido and Fler formed the duo Sonny Black & Frank White. The remix for At Night , which was already the weakest track on the first release, is rated the most negatively . In summary, the criticism gave a rating of four out of a possible six points for aggro announcement no. 3X . When it was released in 2003, the sampler marked the turning point in the history of Aggro Berlin: “ From the rather mixed first two compilations of an independent label with cult character to the sampler with musical originality.
