Gynecologist, who can be heard on the song Willkommen in Berlin

Only hip-hop musicians from the immediate Berlin environment appear as guest rappers. In addition to B-Tight , Tony D , Sido and G-Hot , Fler's label colleagues, Berlin Crime members Frauenarzt and MC Bogy are also represented. G-hot occurs most frequently. This was sponsored by Fler and has worked on a total of five pieces of the sound carrier. At 90210, the latter has the opportunity to be the only guest musician to contribute a solo song. Harris and the founder of the Level Eight Megaloh label also appear in the remix of the track Willkommen in Berlin .

production

Since the FLER 90210 is a mixtape, some well-known songs were sampled or melodies were taken over directly during the production of the beats. For 90,210 was mainly resorted to '80s hits, including The Final Countdown by Europe ( Intro ) I love Rock' n Roll by Joan Jett ( Shake your ass ), Jeanny by Falco ( New numma 1 ) and I've never been to New York by Udo Jürgens ( Never in NY ). For Mein Viertel , the beat was taken from Just a lil bit , a single by the Queens- raised rapper 50 Cent . On Jesus Walks , the only track on the tape on which Fler is not featured, Shizoe raps over the beat of the song of the same name by Kanye West .

However, some newly produced beats were also used. These are the tracks Intro , Disco and Never in NY produced by DJ Desue , the track FLER 90210 produced by Dan and the beat produced by the Beathoavenz for the track Hennessey .

criticism

The editors of the hip-hop magazine Juice wrote an evaluation of the mixtape in the March 2006 issue.

“Fler is celebrating his promotion to the Gold Club with what could be any other mixtape. This combines already known songs like Willkommen in Berlin or the extremely successful B-side track Identity with brand new exclusives from the Aggro-HQ. Of course, his sidekick G-Hot is featured prominently […], but rapper / singer Shizoe also stands out when he clears up the demons of his Christian past on […] Jesus Walks […]. Another highlight is the Swagger Manifesto Neue Numma 1 , but rather next to it Never in NY with Udo Jürgens sample and well-known Pro-Berlin solutions. "

- Excerpts from the review of the Juice

Editor Jo van Edig wrote a review for the publication of the mixtape in the Westfälische Rundschau . In it, van Edig refers to Fler's “few qualities as a rapper”. In summary, FLER 90210 is described as "quite passable, if not necessarily spectacular work show". Furthermore, Gynecologist, Sido, B-Tight, Tony D and Bass Sultan Hengzt are assigned greater musical qualities by van Edig than Fler. In addition, the mix by DJ Desue is highlighted positively.
