Sonny Black is the tenth solo album by the Berlin rapper Bushido . It was released on February 14, 2014 via the ersguterjunge label as a standard edition and box set , including a record version , t-shirt and comic. The title Sonny Black stands for Bushido's pseudonym , under which he had gained notoriety since 2002, particularly through the publication of the Carlo-Cokxxx-Nutten album series. The album reached number 1 in the album charts in Germany , Austria and Switzerland .

There were 15 months between the release of Bushido's last album, AMYF, in October 2012 and Sonny Black . These rumors were reinforced by several allusions to the arrest warrant on Twitter , in which the warrant referred to himself as "Nino Brown", a film character from the American gangsta film New Jack City , who, according to observers, was systematically incorporated into the films Donnie Brasco and King of New York names "Sonny Black" and "Frank White", which Bushido and Fler used for the original, would have inserted. The beats on the album were created by eight different producers. The majority of the productions come from Bushido himself, his label colleague Shindy and the music producers Beatzarre and Djorkaeff, who have already been responsible for numerous previous Bushido productions . The album cover is kept in reddish tones. It shows Bushido's face, wearing a turban and looking to the left from the viewer. In the lower part of the picture are the red lettering Bushido and Sonny Black . The background is completely black. On the other hand, on the cover of the box set, Bushido looks slightly to the right. Both covers were designed by the Hamburg graphic artist Adopekid .

The album hit the top of the German charts on February 28, 2014 . Reached in Austria and Switzerland Sonny Black Square 1. In both Austria and Switzerland, the album occupied positions 3, 6 and 9 in the second to fourth week of sales and then left the top 10 of the charts in the fifth week of sales, reaching positions 18 and 22 respectively. At four weeks each, Sonny Black is the Bushido album with the longest stay in the top 10 in both countries to date. In Germany and Austria the album stayed in the charts for 14 weeks and in Switzerland for 16 weeks. In the German annual charts for 2014, the album was ranked 26th.

On February 27, 2014, 13 days after the album was released, Bushido and Sonny Black were nominated in the Hip-Hop / Urban National category for the sales-based music award Echo . Only the first week of sales of the album was included in the evaluation period for the music award.

In the appeal process in May 2018, the Münster Higher Administrative Court finally decided in Bushido's favor, which meant that the album was available digitally again for a short time. The BPjM then submitted a revision . In October 2019, the indexing was confirmed in the last instance by the Federal Administrative Court and is therefore legally binding. The reasoning for the judgment speaks of an unrestrained portrayal of violence that runs through the title and that women and homosexuals are degraded by vulgar language.
