Your favorite album is the first music album of the hip-hop group Deine Favorit Rapper , the two Berliners Sido and Harris . It was released on October 7, 2005 and reached number 2 on the German album charts. Your favorite album was thus able to occupy the second-highest position for Aggro Berlin so far behind the album Ich und Meine Maske by Sido in the German charts.

Emergence

After Sido and Harris met through the producer duo Beathoavenz , they appeared on Sido's debut album Maske for the first time as your favorite rappers on a sound carrier in 2004 . At the beginning of 2004 the two rappers went on tour together. They called them Sido and Harris come on the tour . On the tour, the two musicians were accompanied by the rapper Reen . Due to the successful collaboration on the tour, Sido and Harris decided to record a joint album. In an interview, Sido commented on the development of the collaboration:

" Glass up , Berlin, Berlin , the splash! -Song Ey yo , those were all songs that came up very quickly and that people also liked. It was then that we realized that we had to do more together. We actually only got to know each other shortly before my album came out, through the Beathoavenz back then. But when you see us together now, it is immediately clear that we had to come together at some point. We have just been on a trial tour of the club and have noticed again and again that we both often get the same thoughts without having talked about it beforehand. "

- Sido to hip-hop magazine Juice in 2005

The formation time of your favorite album was Bintia , the wife of Harris, on tour. This meant that the two rappers could only work on the sound carrier in the mornings, as Harris had to look after their daughter.

Guest Posts

Nino Garris

Your favorite album contains numerous guest posts from hip-hop musicians. Most of them are from Sido and Harris's immediate environment. B-Tight , who is under contract with Aggro Berlin, and Tony D , who a few weeks after the album was released, also received an artist contract with Aggro Berlin, are represented. The rapper Alpa Gun, who is under contract with Sektenmuzik , is involved in two songs. Other participations can be seen in the song Die Sekte and SRK . In addition to B-Tight and Alpa Gun, the SRK members Cisse, MJ, Tony Tone and Said, as well as the rapper MOK, are also represented. It's starting yo and summer in my block each includes a guest post by Harris's wife Bintia . Even J-Luv is with Peter Frade and Dreckssau twice on your favorite album to listen to. Furthermore, the piece Kling wie du was created with the participation of the former Alba Berlin basketball player Nino Garris .

Sido and Harris originally wanted to work with other musicians for the album. Sido was planning to record a song with the Heidelberg rapper Torch . However, this did not materialize. In an interview, Sido commented on the reason why he wanted to work with the member of Advanced Chemistry :

“I loved hearing blue velvet . [...] He didn't say anything he couldn't afford and I found his topics interesting. I would have liked to have done that, also to show the people and Torch himself that I have nothing against the Old School, which I am happily accused of. "

Furthermore, a song with Dean Dawson was planned. Together with Harris, he forms the Berlin Spezializtz group . The three rappers finally worked together in 2007. In this, the single Chain Reaction was released , which was taken from the album GBZ Oholika III by Spezializtz.

“Siggi really wanted Dean on his favorite rapper album too, and I digged hard. But unfortunately it didn't come to that because Dean didn't know him and the two also have a previous history. Thick skulls. "

production

Various German hip-hop musicians were involved in your favorite album . The producer duo Beathoavenz contributed most of the beats to the sound carrier. They produced the musical pieces Es Geht Ab Yo , Mein Schatz , Drecksau , Kling Wie Du and Peter Frade . Dan produced the intro for the album. The song Der Shit was produced by DJ Pete and the piece Die Sekt und SRK by Fuego . Paul NZA added the beats to the single Stand up again and the song And you ?! at. We preserve the attitude was produced by Bock Auf'n Beat. Bugati produced the pieces of music Your Favorite Rappers , With Style , Summer In My Block and 16 Things . Furthermore, the beat for Gib Mir Dieasche is from DJ Derezon and the background music is from Sing Für Uns , Die Da and No Hunger More from Don Tone.

When selecting the beats, the rappers placed great emphasis on the fact that the finished songs could be played at concerts and that the visitors were encouraged to celebrate.

In the center of the cover , Sido and Harris can be seen in a full body shot. In addition to his mask , Sido wears yellow clothes. Harris, who is slightly offset behind Sido, is dressed completely in black. He also wears a black hat and sunglasses, so that the eyes of both artists cannot be seen. In the lower third, as on all Aggro publications, there is the Aggro logo and the consumer information. The background is white, with some “flowing” lines that are yellow and merge into black and are partially sprinkled with yellow or black breaking through the white surface.

Singles

Cover of the single Stand up again

Get up again appeared on September 23, 2005 as the only song on the album as a single. In addition to the original, the instrumental and three remix versions of the piece, the single contains the bonus songs Lobster and Caviar and We keep the attitude . The video for Stand up again was shot by Daniel Harder and Aggro Berlin founder Specter . The clip caused criticism, as it shows rapper Sido being led to the execution on the electric chair and crucified.

trip

To market the album, Sido and Harris went on tour in the fall of 2005. This was dubbed your favorite tour and included 27 dates. The two rappers were accompanied by hip-hop musician DJ Stylewarz.

reception

success

Your favorite album entered the German album charts at number 2 in calendar week 43 of 2005. In the following weeks the sound carrier occupied position 10; 15; 22; 44 and 63. After seven weeks of sales, the album reached number 86, the last position in the German album charts. 80,000 units of the album could be sold by mid-January 2007.

The single Stand up again was able to stay in the German album charts for a total of ten weeks . After the first week of sales, the single reached position 14, the highest chart position. In the 42nd and 43rd calendar week of the year, the single was in 18th place.

criticism

The album was received differently by the critics. In the November 2005 issue of the hip-hop magazine Juice , Your Favorite Album was named album of the month . The editorial staff of the magazine awarded the sound carrier five out of a possible six “crowns”.

“Here the slightly whining boy from the block, there the Barry Manilow of German rap, who spits down with deep baritone sentences of absolute coolness, which find their perfect complement in the cranked and complacent punches of Sido. [...] Trimmed so consistently for the theoretical dance floor [...] hardly a German rap album. Just as self-deprecating, by the way: Anyone who talks about getting a stick when they talk about himself and at the same time wants to ride a golden donkey through the audience is certainly well versed in the fun way of dealing with ego behavior. And otherwise? Get up again as one of the few more substantial numbers, a terrific Die Da !? - Revival, a wonderful summer anthem for the cold winter months, syncopated beats, whispering backgrounds, alcohol in huge quantities, all that shit. "

- Excerpts from the review of the Juice

In contrast to the Juice , the e-zine Laut.de rates the album with only two of a possible five rating points. The editor responsible, Alexander Engelen, criticizes the pieces Mein Schatz and Peter Frade , which, from Engelen's point of view, do not fit into the concept of the sound carrier.

“Your favorite rappers present themselves in the best Aggro Berlin manner: They are loud, desolate, take drugs and have little more than a party behind the mask or under the Afro. This is perfectly acceptable as a concept for an album - provocation and entertainment on level two, so to speak. But nothing more. […] The dose makes the poison. And if the idea is right, then you like to overlook the missing content. When Sido raps like Harris and Harris makes a Sido, the two have for the first time reached the point where they can laugh at themselves ( Kling Wie Du ). Thanks to the scaled-down Beathoavenz instrumental, in addition to the wonderfully honest description of the hip-hop movement "We preserve our attitude", this is my personal favorite track. "
